Support SIGE — preserve Dutch East Indies genealogical heritage
SIGE (Stichting Indisch Genealogisch Erfgoed) is a Dutch non-profit foundation that documents the families, lives and culture of Indo-European communities from the former Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). We publish the open-access Biographical Dictionary of the Dutch East Indies (BWNI), the digital magazine Indisch Familieblad, and family genealogies. Our work is free and free of advertising.
Researchers, descendants of the diaspora in the Netherlands, the United States, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Australia and beyond rely on SIGE for primary biographical data. Your contribution keeps the website open and the editorial work going.
RSIN 860075096 · KvK 74923897. Donations from Dutch tax residents are deductible at up to 125% (cultural ANBI deduction). International donors: please check your country’s regulations — in some EU member states (e.g. Germany, Belgium, France) cross-border ANBI deductions are possible under EU treaty provisions.

Why support SIGE specifically?
- Free access. Unlike subscription-based competitors, every SIGE publication is open. No paywall, no membership, no login.
- Academic standards. All BWNI entries follow a public verification protocol, with primary source citations. Linked to Wikidata and Schema.org for international discoverability.
- International orientation. Each biography includes an English summary. Diaspora researchers in the US, Australia, Indonesia, and the UK can use SIGE as their primary Dutch-language reference.
- Small, accountable team. Editorial board, financial statements and annual reports are publicly available at /stichting/.
Thank you for considering a donation. Every contribution — small or recurring — keeps Indo-European heritage research accessible to the diaspora worldwide.
